Why AppHipMom loves it: Warns of high UV levels
Now that summer is quickly coming to an end, it doesn’t mean that we should put away the sunscreen and not concern ourselves about the sun’s Ultra Violet (UV) rays.
The UV Canada app provides UV readings across most Canadian cities, complete with weather forecasts from Environment Canada, and sun safety tips. The app will also notify users when UV rays hits a pre-determined level so that users can take appropriate action.
On clear sunny days, I know that sun protection is an absolute must, but when it’s cloudy, I admit, I forget. It’s the “out of sight, out of mind” mentality. But with the app, you will always have the UV levels at your fingertips come sun or clouds.
A team of doctors, research scientists and computer science students from Vancouver General Hospital, the BC Cancer Agency and Simon Fraser University collaborated in the design and development of the app.
Are you concerned enough about UV rays to use the app year round?
