TELUS and CIBC just announced the launch of the new CIBC Mobile Payment app that will allow TELUS and CIBC customers to pay for purchases under $50 across many Canadian retailers including coffee shops and grocery stores.
TELUS customers must have a CIBC credit card and a NFC (Near-Field communication) enabled smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy SIII, Samsung Galaxy Note II and HTC One) in order to use the app. Blackberry Z10, Blackberry Q10 and Blackberry Bold 9900 devices on the TELUS network will have to wait a few more weeks before access is available to them.
NFC technology allows information to be exchanged between wireless contacts that are in close proximity to one another.
Are you one of the excited people who can’t wait to try out this app or are you concerned about security with the use of new technology?
