Why AppHipMom loves it: Challenging yet fun search and find puzzle maze for all ages
OCG Studios, the team behind Roxie’s Doors have another hit on their hands. Just when you think you’ve seen all the puzzle like games out there, Roxie’s a-MAZE-ing Vacation Adventures combines them all into one neatly packaged game that will have you and your kids occupied for hours on end.
Roxie’s a-MAZE-ing Vacation Adventures is a hybrid of “I-SPY” puzzles set to a traditional maze. Using your finger, guide your car along streets and highways to find the 5 pieces of a star. This sounds easier than it is because as a car, you have to follow the rules of the road, including one way streets, dead ends and closed off streets. This forces you to find alternate ways to reach your destination.
Along the way, be on the look out for objects such as trees, animals, letters, numbers, trucks, etc. that are hidden somewhere on the game screen. You don’t need to drive to acquire these objects (thank goodness), a simple tap will do. Roads that lead off screen will take you to the next puzzle (16 in total) which will have new objects and star pieces to find.
Not all places are accessible by car. Consider yourself on an adventure as you’ll also find yourself travelling by foot, air, raft, even skis to get where you need to go.
The animation by American author/illustrator Roxie Munro is simply incredible. Each puzzle world is unique and packed with details which challenges even the most experienced puzzle solver. You can clearly appreciate Roxie’s work when playing with an iPad. Some objects have sound effects and with no reading required, even the youngest player can enjoy the game.
Honestly, once you start, you can’t put this game down, which makes Roxie’s a-MAZE-ing Vacation Adventures a must have app when travelling with kids, especially on long trips.
This interactive app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad truly stands in a class of its own.
