Why AppHipMom loves it: digitalized multimedia baby journal
If you’re like me, you no doubt have thousands and thousands of digital photographs of your children on memory sticks, in the cloud and/or saved to your computer.
Technology has made capturing memories so simple and convenient. But when it comes time to putting the good old baby journal together, there’s a misconnect. The process itself is labor and time intensive, as photos need printing, cropping, gluing, etc.
World-renowned photographer and bestselling author Anne Geddes has made creating a personalized baby journal a breeze with the digital version of her classic book “My First Five Years”, now available in the Mac App Store.
With over 120 pages, Anne hasn’t missed a beat with sections including the baby shower, baby’s homecoming, first haircut, birthdays, milestones, preschool, etc. Pages can be hidden if you have no need for it. On the other hand, should you require more pages, that’s not a problem. Telling your story is easy as sections are clearly marked and prompts guide you to fill in the blanks.
I found the layout very easy to manoeuver. Adding photos are a cinch – a simple click and drag is all that’s needed. Audio and movie clips add a real personal touch and feel to the journal. What a great way to capture baby’s favorite song, first words or even a video message from grandma and grandpa. The multimedia aspect of My First Five Years is truly what makes this unique.
Personally, I love the idea that there are sections to display your child’s artwork and stories. Interspersed throughout the journal are the signature baby photographs Anne Geddes has become known for.
You can create multiple journals – one for each child with different book styles, layouts and covers. Share pages online with family and friends or view as a slideshow presentation.
Whether you’re a new parent, soon to be parent or have grown kids, “My First Five Years” will preserve those precious moments and memories all in one place – no scissors or glue required.
Tip #1: This makes a fantastic, unique gift idea for new parents.
Tip #2: If you have older kids, why not have them help you with their journal? Makes for a great summer project.
