Why AppHipMom loves it: educational trivia game with fun movie tie-in
Movie game tie-ins don’t always work, but the DreamWorks Mr. Peabody & Sherman app may actually have your kids wanting to learn a thing or two about history.
With help from the WABAC machine, players travel through 10 historical eras from the film like the French Revolution and Ancient Egypt. There are several phases within each era that must be completed by successfully answering a predetermined number of true/false questions about the time period. For me, the questions were on the easy side but from time to time I learned a few fun facts along the way. Players have a predetermined amount of lives for each round and each incorrect answer will cost a life. If you lose all your lives before you answer all the necessary questions correctly, it’s game over and you’ll have to wait to try again.
Challenge friends and family and play against another player in the lightning multiple choice Challenge rounds. Challenge questions include sports, movies, music and more. If you’re stuck, you can ask Penny or Sherman for help.
The WABAC machine does require a refuel on occasion. There are free top-ups upon completing each round but additional fuel will require in-app purchases. Playing Challenge rounds will cost fuel as will asking Penny or Sherman for help to answer a question. Honestly, I was never in dire need for fuel, so this didn’t make or break the game for me.
I was most impressed with the incredible animation for the Mr. Peabody & Sherman app. The alliance between developer Ludia and DreamWorks Animation is clearly evident, which for me, made the game even more fun to play.
Did you see Mr. Peabody & Sherman in theatres this weekend? What did your kids learn from the movie?
