Canadians naturally grumbled when news broke last August of Apple’s iPhone Reuse and Recycling Program going live in the USA. We no longer have to be jealous of our neighbours to the south as a similar program is now officially available in Canada. Here is the official press statement from Apple Canada below:
“iPhones hold great value. So, Apple Retail Stores in Canada are launching a new program to assist customers who wish to bring in their previous-generation iPhone for reuse or recycling. In addition to helping support the environment, customers will be able to receive a credit for their returned phone that they can use toward the purchase of a new iPhone.”
The iPhone Reuse and Recycling Program will allow iPhone owners to receive a store credit of up to $275 based on the current value of their iPhone, which must be in working order. The credit can only be used towards the purchase of a new iPhone, and applies to both consumer and business customers. Customers just need to visit their local Apple Store where an immediate value will be given and the trade in can be done on the spot. Better yet, Apple can help with the Personal Set-Up of your new iPhone, so that you’ll be up and running before you leave the store.
Apple has been offering online recycling for over 3 years and the extension of the iPhone Reuse and Recycling Program to Canada is a popular service for Apple’s customers. Now you have an easy way to not only upgrade your iPhone but also to dispose of an non-working iPhone in an environmentally responsible way.
