It’s no secret to those that know me that I am a bit of a germaphobe. I am always the “go to” gal for hand sanitizer. Public washrooms, indoor playgrounds and doctor offices are places I try to avoid (ok so it’s not realistic, but I try). My kids know the first thing they do when they get home (after they remove their shoes) is to wash their hands.
As a germaphobe, I am also not a big fan of hotel rooms (although I love to travel), even ones of the 5 star variety. That’s because I have a love/hate relationship with the hotel tv remote control. We like to turn on the tv to watch the local news, check out, find out about the local area, etc., but I HATE having to touch the remote to make it happen. So when I read this article from USA Today, about a new app that turns smartphones into a hotel remote control, I got very excited.
LodgeNet is the leading provider of hotel interactive media programming in North America. They have recently released their free LodgeNet Mobile app that turns your Apple or Android device to a remote control. Whether you are simply channel surfing, ordering a pay per view movie, checking out or turning the tv off, touching the actual hotel tv remote may soon be a thing of the past.
Does this app sound like something that you would use?
